CANDIDATE SAYS
S.L. COUNTY GOVERNMENT
NEEDS WATCHDOG!
Riverton, Utah:
Personal Choice Candidate K.C.
“Sarge” Froehle says
S. L. County Government needs an overhaul and the voters should add
a third party Watchdog with no developer connections to help fill
that roll. While fielding questions he gave frank, eye opening and
down-home answers rather than the Old Faithful “if elected I will la
la bla”. "Sarge" commented that a vote for a Republican or a
Democrat is a vote for the status quo.
On local issues of concern "Sarge" was able to connect voters
concerns with his own past experiences, such as basement flooding, a
lack of bike lanes and motor vehicle drivers on cell phones as
public safety issues. He also pointed out that city, county and
state officials are not listening to the concerns and the will of
the people. In Riverton, for example, city officials appear to
disregard the Big Box development referendum signed by well over the
required number of citizens. On the state level, an initiative
regarding property rights and confiscation initially passed by a 69%
public vote. During the next legislative session state officials
doubled back on voters, bringing back regulations voters had voted
to remove. "Sarge" said, the idea that government knows best will
not be accepted with him as a third party watchdog on the council.
After the closing comments, many attendees questioned Sarge
as to why they had never heard about him or the
Personal Choice Party.
His frank reply hit many faults with today’s system. In a country of
equals, minorities, be it racial, religious or political party
minorities, are still treated as such. The press has lost its desire
to objectively inform the public and tends to fill its papers with
news of the majority, therefore insuring everyone knows the dominant
line, and minority views and positions remain out of site. The
exception to this rule was when Ross Perot spent his dollars to buy
newspaper space. What happened to free press, equality, and fair and
balanced treatment of all contenders for office? Press coverage,
even if limited, must be made available to all candidates who are on
the ballot with no great cost.
In his closing remarks he brought home the point that our
government is based on Life, Liberty and Pursuit of happiness.
"Government is of, by, and for the people, not of the special
interests, for the special interests, and by the special interests",
he said. In a democracy, governmental power comes from the people.
Every two years the people have the opportunity to throw the bums
out that portray the slick Willie approach. He invited all citizens
